Google Removing Sidebar Ads
This is a significantly big change that Google has been testing for years, apparently. We think this will have 3 impacts on the PPC world.
- Because there are fewer paid spots on the first page, people will compete more for the space. This should drive up the price of the those 3-4 top ads.
- People will target mobile more than desktop. Most searches happen on mobile now so it makes sense to make everything resemble the mobile experience.
- With only 3-4 ads being shown, the consumer will have fewer choices and might not be boggled down while shopping around.
We do have some clients who use Google Adwords and we will have to monitor how this change effects their campaigns. This change is not live everywhere but will be in the coming months. Campaigns will need to be watched and budgets and spend adjusted accordingly.
